history } Buffy Summers @ Buffy.Wikia
personality }
For her personality section, I'm going to be giving a general overview, and then a much more extensive look at who Buffy Summers really is.
-----> *OVERVIEW* ->> Buffy is a leader by nature. She always has been. Even back before she became the Slayer when she was the quintessential Californian princess – cheerleader, homecoming queen, all of that – she was still very much a leader. She demands to be followed whether that's by trend-setting or leading an army of girls with weapons against a damn-near impenetrable force of evil. She's self-assured and strong-willed. She is a very independent woman who doesn't have much taste for authority, who does what she thinks is the best thing, and right thing, to do. If that involves bending the rules, then so be it. She's a rebel, even in terms of being a Slayer - she likes to do things her own way, even if her Watcher or the Council have demanded otherwise. Sometimes her natural ability to lead can go to her head, and she'll get a little too headstrong and arrogant about things. She's often fairly well convinced that she's the foremost expert on all of the monsters and demons that come around, just because she's The Slayer, and she's been there.
Buffy also has a huge heart. She cares about people, sometimes more than what's good for her. She can get attached to people far too quickly, and she definitely puts her all into her friendships. She's a very protective person and will stop at nothing to keep those she loves safe. She considers her emotions to be assets, and knows that, despite what she's learned from the First Slayer and what she's been told of Slayers in the past, they give her power. They build her strength. There isn't anything she wouldn't do for the people she cares about; she would go to the ends of the earth to protect them, no matter what.
She can be extremely strong in her opinions, and isn't afraid to step up and assert her authority when she feels it's necessary. Buffy also possesses the uncanny ability to whip out witty comments at the most appropriate (and, alright, sometimes inappropriate) times, always offering a crack - especially when dealing with her enemies. She comes off a little bit cynical and sarcastic at times, but usually just when she's in a bad mood. She's very emotional, despite the strong image she upholds. She's not quick to cry, or a baby about her feelings, but when the need hits her, she lets it out, sometimes despite her best efforts to hold it in. She's fairly good at bottling when she really has to, when she really wants to, but it puts a strain on her and letting it all out is just… better.
Now, the dutiful part of her. Buffy has two people within her, always. Buffy the Girl, and Buffy the Slayer. The Leader. Sometimes they coexist harmoniously and combine forces to bring the best of both out respectively. Other times… Buffy just wants to be normal and gets upset and acts put upon about being the Slayer. Now, with all the other Slayers running around, that shouldn't be too big a deal, right? Wrong- she's still the first one, she's still the original one, so she's still the one who both wants to and is expected to call the shots. So she's got the entitlement and the burden all at once – and while it's no longer a burden she can't share, it's still very much a heavy weight to carry. Buffy the girl sometimes headbutts against Buffy the Slayer, and vice versa. There have been times when she resists her duty and responsibilities and ignores what she should be doing, and allows just Buffy take back over completely. It… usually backfires.
On the contrary, there are times when she shoves Buffy-the-girl aside and becomes the Slayer. Whole-heartedly, entirely, the Slayer. A soldier. The one woman who can change everything, who lives for the fight. Death is her gift. The part of her who is a warrior, built and given the skill and strength through generations and generations of Slayers. She becomes colder, harder, and much less tolerant of insubordination. She gives orders and expects them to be followed and is harsher than she needs to be from time to time. She's snappy and makes judgments that she is convinced are completely right even if they can be mistakes. She can get so into her own headspace and so determined and set on the path she's taking that she loses her desire to maintain her personal connections over that sense of battle is right, duty is right. She can become almost frighteningly militant at times.
These instances are usually the starkest contrast between when she's just being herself and when she shows the hardened, matured, weathered person her life experiences have forced her to become. She kind of has a chip on her shoulder because of it at times, and she really has been through… a lot. She's lost friends, she lost her mother, and she's lost her own life - twice. That's a lot for a girl her age to go through. But that doesn't mean that she's a full-on grown up despite being well on her way into adulthood. There are many instances in which Buffy is still immature. She has a jealous streak, and easily turns to petty insults (even if they're not said to a person's face all the time) when a sour chord is struck for her. She can be very knock-down drag-out mean-girl vicious, too, going right for the jugular in an argument when she feels she's at a disadvantage and needs to change it. She very much has eldest child syndrome in that regard. She can actually be… a lot of a brat. When she doesn't get her way, she lashes out. This is a very teenage attitude and approach to conflict to still have.
That brings us back around to the fact that she's still just a girl, though, somewhere in there beneath all of the very complicated multi-tiered cake parfait pie that is Buffy to the outside world. Really. Whether she's considered Queen of the Slayers, The Only Slayer, big sister, best friend, daughter, student, mentor, California girl… No matter how you swing it, she's still Buffy. She never loses her distinct self, not once, and she never would. She can laugh, she can cry, she can give strength, and triumph, but she can still be hurt, and she can still love. She can still live. Her life may be more of a daily battle than it's ever been before, each passing moment bringing the possibility for an Apocalyptic disaster, but she still gets through it with perk and a chipper smile.
Now; the following is a more detailed outline of particular aspects of Buffy, including some very poignant strengths and weaknesses she possesses.
***ROLES PLAYED***
better known as : the many faces of Buffy
-----> *BUFFY AS A LEADER* -vv
--------> *THE GOOD* ->> Buffy's been through a lot in her life, the most important things having happened in less than a ten year span. She became the Slayer, learned what it was like to be a fighter and to have to continue to juggle normal life with her sacred duties, and learned the true meaning of sacrifice. There are countless other things, but what it all comes down to is the fact that she's beaten death two times, and she's got a lot of experience under her belt. It's rare that her instincts will drive her to a wrong decision (read: the vineyard where Xander lost his eye and Caleb pretty much creamed the lot of them). She's got a good head on her shoulders, and knows what to expect much of the time. She's loyal and trustworthy, and even though everyone has flaws, she sets a good example for those that choose to follow her. She has no problem taking the initiative and being that stronger hand, either, and she'll tell someone when they're doing something wrong. She's got a huge commanding presence, even if she's feeling internally vulnerable. Her mannerisms and the way she carries herself demands respect, even in the times when she doesn't outright say "My fight, my rules". The fact that she's single-handedly changed the power from being in the hands of a group of stuffy British guys, to being in the hands of the Slayer, speaks volumes of the kind of regal presence she truly has. She's always done things her own way - from having friends where The Slayer isn't meant to, to completely ignoring orders - and, generally speaking, the change sparked by this is positive. Being in charge, Alpha, top-dog comes naturally to her, and she's damn good at taking that role.
--------> *THE BAD* ->> She can sometimes be a little too arrogant when it comes down to being the one calling the shots. Her passion and emotions can rule over her head and steer her wrong, and she'll snap at the people who she really needs most because they disagree with her on something. Sometimes, Buffy has problems with tunnel vision. She'll find an objection, see it, and focus on JUST that. There have been times where she can't see the forest because she's focused on that one special tree; the bigger picture can be lost on her if there's a little detail she thinks is the most important above all else. She's guided her friends into situations that are too dangerous for them as a result - the most prominent being the Vineyard, when Caleb wound up putting out Xander's eye, and killing a few of the Slayerettes. She can be way too bossy and "I'm the Chosen One, that's why you do what I say! HMPF," at times.
-----> *BUFFY AS A FRIEND* -vv
--------> *THE GOOD* ->> Buffy is a fiercely loyal person. Once you're considered her friend, you're stuck there. Her closest friends are the only people that she'd die for by choice, not just because she's the Chosen One. She has to give her life to protect people by her duty, but not always by her choice. With her friends, it's definitely something she would choose to do. She self-sacrifices so much; but for her friends, she goes into it without question. She's the first Slayer in history who's ever really had a social life outside of Slaying once called, and as such, she treasures her friends that much more. She would go to endless lengths just to make sure that her friends are safe, and has often and would often put herself on the line to just to protect them. She also appreciates them and has love for them that's overwhelmingly strong. Even those without any extra abilities (like Willow's magic, or her Slayer powers) help her with her life's endeavor; as a matter of fact, without them, she'd still be dead. (Okay, she was in Heaven and wasn't all too thrilled about being back to life initially, but now that she's happy to be alive again, she's a little bit more appreciative of having been returned to the living word.) They give her strength when she's otherwise weak. Willow's her "big gun", and Xander is her rock. These two alone are her absolute best friends; they've been through thick and thin together, since the beginning. She would do anything for the safety and well-being of her friends.
--------> *THE BAD* ->> This ties into her being the Slayer, and pays a little bit of homage to the fact that she can be too pushy as a leader because she thinks Buffy knows best. Because she thinks she knows what's best for her friends, there are times when she'll shut them out. Her intentions are good; she just wants to protect them, but it seems like she's completely pushing them aside. In truth, she detaches herself from them, just because she knows that if they do get hurt, it'll be her fault somehow, either directly or indirectly. There are times when she has to do things that neither she nor her friends want her to do; this is when she becomes much more stone-cold toward them. It may just be for the sake of keeping them out of harm's way, but it comes off as abrasive and as if she feels she's better than them. There are several instances in canon that I could quote where this is demonstrated.
-----> *BUFFY AS A SISTER-SLASH-GUARDIAN* -vv
--------> *THE GOOD* ->> Buffy would put her life on the line in a heartbeat, and has, for Dawn. They haven't always gotten along; there's always been tension because Dawn's the baby, Buffy's the oldest – and that's before even taking the fact that Buffy's the Slayer and Dawn resents feeling like she isn't special because of it. The fact of the matter is, the memories of their lives together were fabricated by a group of monks. Dawn didn't actually exist until Buffy was nearly twenty years old. She was a ball of energy, called the Key, who was given human form from pieces of Buffy herself, and placed into Buffy's life. Her mother's memories, her own memories, and the memories of everyone that Dawn could possibly have met in Buffy's life were completely altered in order for it to seem like Dawn had been there from the very beginning. So, to Buffy, her friends, and Dawn herself? She's been there since Buffy was about five years old. Regardless of their differences, the fact of the matter is that Buffy would do absolutely anything for her sister. This extends to a much more vast range of things than what she'd do for her friends. She puts herself in harm's way for them, but she has actually died to save Dawn's life. When it came down to it, it was either Dawn or Buffy, and the Slayer wasn't about to watch her little sister die. Even if she's not really a sibling, she feels like it to Buffy. And there's a LOT of love there.
When their mother died, Buffy became something more than a sister to Dawn. She became Dawn's legal guardian. She tries her best, and has pushed herself into the role of a responsible adult much sooner than any young woman should have to. Even with being the Slayer, taking on the task of being a mother figure to a teenager is… Well, terrifying. She does whatever she can to make sure that Dawn's doing her schoolwork properly, does anything she can to offer emotional support (though her sister doesn't always allow her to get that close), and has generally assumed the role very well despite the tension of siblings that still lingers. She's given up her young adulthood and part of what could still be considered her youth (right down to dropping out of college) to take care of her sister. There is absolutely nothing that Buffy wouldn't do to try and make sure that Dawn's well taken care of, safe, and happy.
--------> *THE BAD* ->> Again, we come around to the fact that sometimes, Buffy can be way too bossy. Assuming a parental role is tough for her; she has to be able to have a firm hand without making it seem like she's just wielding a big fat sword around and has the power because of it. But… sometimes the older sister gets the best of her and she does that whole "because I'm the one in charge" spiel, even if it's not completely justified. It usually is, but she can be overly harsh – and that has to do with the fact that taking care of Dawn is a huge stress factor for her. She takes it out on the girl even if she doesn't mean to. She can still be bratty when it comes down to arguments between herself and her younger sibling, and there have been times when her friends would step in and let her know that she might just be a little too harsh with Dawn. She tries, but everyone has failures. Sometimes, she misses the bull's-eye big time where her sister is concerned. (Although it doesn't really help that Dawn's as rebellious as she is at times. Most recently, Buffy sent Xander away with Dawn so that she'd be nowhere near their final battle. Dawn… used a tazer on Xander, and turned the car around. She refused to be put out of the battle.)
**A FEW KEY ASPECTS**
----->*INDEPENDENT* ->> Buffy doesn't like to take orders, follow rules, or… Well, she pretty much doesn't like it when people try to take authority over her. She's self-sufficient as it is, and she likes to think that she doesn't need the guidance. She's very good working on her own, and most of the time, she comes up with good plans and strategies. She's definitely the type of woman who can handle herself. She's also very rebellious. If you say jump, she says 'yeah right, I can totally do something cooler anyway.' If someone tells her she isn't able to, or shouldn't, do something? She's right there, proving them wrong.
----->*CARING/COMPASSIONATE* ->> She doesn't go looking to snuggle up cozy to every person she sees, by any means, but she does care about people. She's a warrior for humanity, to protect humanity, so she cares about the well being of others. She's a literal life-saver, and that means actually giving a damn enough to want to save lives. She isn't all about the warm fuzzies constantly, but she genuinely worries about whether or not the world and its population will be alright at the end of the day – especially if harmony happening rests squarely on her shoulders (as it often does). When she gets close to a person, when she truly makes a connection, she will go out of her way to ensure that person's safety. She worries about the emotional well-being of her friends; she loves them and cares about them immensely, and is just as concerned with making sure they're okay on a general basis as she is with making sure they're not being attacked, eaten, or otherwise made dead by some evil bloodsucking creature of the night. When Buffy loves, she loves completely. Be that platonic on a friendly level, or a more familial level – even romantic. She might be hard on the outside, but deep down, she's still a girl at heart. She's a girl who really feels for others.
----->*SARCASTIC/CHATTY/WITTY* ->> Where would Buffy Summers be without her endless library of witty banter? Nowhere! One of the Slayer's trademarks is the fact that she's always got something to say. Nine times out of ten, she'll come up with a killer pun when she's out on patrol. (And if she'd said what was just typed, she'd be looking around going 'Get it? Killer?'… if no one laughed initially, anyway.) She spends as much time bantering with her adversaries just about as much as she spends time fighting and killing them, but her wit (and often times, babble) isn't reserved just for the evils of the world. She's quick on the uptake for something sly, sometimes underhanded, in conversation. She's a very chatty person naturally; although sometimes she loses sight of her original point when she goes into a long analogy or explanation, she's always got a lot to say. There's no shortage of sharp-as-a-tack quips from this garrulous young woman.
----->*FRIENDLY* ->> Buffy, though she tries to pull as few people into her crazy world as possible, is a very friendly and sociable individual. She's outgoing, with a bubbly demeanor that just screams "social butterfly". At Hemery she was a cheerleader, and in the popular group of students. Becoming the Slayer made her more humble about teasing the 'freaks', and she befriended one of the most outcast students there in a way she wouldn't befriend anyone until coming to Sunnydale. She's learned to be much more accepting of people's differences while still retaining general social grace and know-how. Although at first glance, Buffy doesn't scream 'HEY COME UP AND TALK TO ME!!!' (she's intimidating, what with all of that power and the world-worn hardness she's got going for her), she's usually a pretty welcoming person when someone approaches her.
----->*RESOURCEFUL* ->> Experience has toughened Buffy up, and has given her the skills necessary to pull something out at the last minute in any given situation. She always figures something out when she has to, and is very reliable because of it. It’s like she always seems to just… know. She's also resourceful on a more basic level – a chair can become a weapon, and when the chair's broken, it can be de-pieced… into more, sharp little pointy-sticks. She's pretty good with pulling solutions out of thin air. It's a survival thing.
**FEARS AND DOWNFALLS**
----->*FAILURE* ->> Buffy likes being in the right. She likes knowing what she’s talking about and knowing that she knows. She likes to believe that she always makes correct choices and that when she’s in charge, all things fall into place the way they’re meant to be. She can’t handle it and often displays this when someone proves her wrong, or tells her she’s wrong. She doesn’t do failure and she doesn’t do being told that she’s failed. She’s very, very proud, sometimes to a fault.
----->*ISOLATION*->> There are so many times when Buffy pushes everyone she cares about away, for one reason or another. This ties into how her Slaying affects her friendships, and how she handles her friends, but it’s something that she also deals with on a deeper, individual level on an almost constant basis. Despite being "A Chosen One and her friends" much of the time, she still feels like there’s a lack of connection there. By having this feeling almost constantly, she sort of becomes a self-fulfilling prophecy in that she feels alone, but doesn’t want to be – but in moments when she feels justified to do so, she pushes her friends away. To keep them safe, because they don’t understand, or any other number of reasons, she can shove them to the side and keep them at arm’s length. It’s kind of a vicious cyclical thing that ebbs and flows depending on the state of the world around her, but there’s always that underlying bit that never, ever ceases.
By the same token, one of the things she fears the most is this complete isolation. As much as she perpetuates it, she has just as much desire to fight against it. She’s a walking contradiction in that manner, which is another issue altogether – but the very thing she sometimes pushes toward, she also feels uncomfortable with.
----->*ENTITLEMENT*->> Sometimes, Buffy thinks that she and her Slayer rights and knowledge are the be-all, end-all of… pretty much everything. She thinks that she’s an exception to the rules even more than she actually is an exception to the rules. However, there are times when she pushes this until it’s… nothing short of obnoxious. There have been times when she’s ignored other ideas despite the fact that, for the sake of the greater good, they probably would have been better.
----->*STOICISM*->> While the majority of Buffy’s personality involves a lot of emotions all happening at once, there are times where she can be… frighteningly stoic. This doesn’t merit much divulging just because of how much it ties into her Slayer duties and the hard exterior she gets when she shuts out her friends, but it is a part of who she is. There are times when she shuts down and becomes nothing more than a soldier with a mission, even with her friends trying to reach out and make her more. There is also the fact that she, at this point in her life, acknowledges the fact that she feels something is wrong with her, that everyone else feels the same, and that she has no chance for real romance or a relationship. That isn't to say that she doesn't want one, but she's much more emotionally guarded because of the fact that her mission is what matters, especially in the state of things, and because she thinks/knows/feels that it's probably better that way anyway.
----->*OVERLY EMOTIONAL TENDENCIES*->> Contrary to the stoic side, the (mostly) Slayer-only side, of Buffy, there is also the girl. There are times when her emotions run so high that it’s dangerous for not only herself, but also for everyone around her. There have been instances where she’s sacrificed the thoughts and needs of her friends and loved ones because she felt in her gut that something was wrong, or because she was so blinded by her own feelings on the matter that she just simply… didn’t think about other people. This can be directly tied to her self-righteousness in many instances, where she thinks she is always in the right, and never anything different than that. For as often as her emotions make her stronger, on an equal scale, they can make her more vulnerable. She takes more risks (often unnecessarily) when her emotions are running high; when she’s upset, when she’s angry, when she’s overly determined… It can all lead to a lot of messy crap that could have been avoided if she’d just put her mind over her heart and thought about it.
abilities }
{ abilities }
Buffy possesses all of the abilities that a Slayer usually has, including super strength, enhanced speed and agility, increased pain tolerance, and slightly quicker-than-normal healing. She can also sense the presence of Demons if she hones into her instincts. She has all of the memories of Slayers past, and sometimes will have precognitive dreams. She doesn’t really gain weight and eats like a horse, but Slayer metabolism is super fun and fast and so she gets away with eating everything.
On top of that, she’s learned where to look as far as researching goes to get the information she needs for something. She’s good at improvisation when she needs to be, especially on the battlefield. She’s a quick thinker, especially on her feet, and isn’t shy with the witty banter even in dire situations. She’s good at getting her enemies to leak information accidentally through banter.
Even without her Slayer powers (and aside from them), she’s also one hell of a fighter. She’s retained all of the knowledge from slaying and all of her training to know her way around a martial arts movie (or ten…). Because of her background in this, she has excellent proficiency in a number of weapons, from archaic to modern (though she prefers the former and tends to think that guns are wastes of time.)
{ weaknesses }
I would ask that you please refer to the personality section for her psychological/personality weaknesses and flaws; they lie within the outline and details therein. I’d move them but the way I set it up sort of goes point to point and details the pros and cons thereof for each; it’s more streamlined this way.
Physical & Miscellaneous – Buffy, while having the ability to bounce back and heal quickly, isn’t invulnerable. If she gets shot, she’ll die. If she gets stabbed, she’ll die. She has all of the normal human weaknesses, just heals faster from a majority of them. Mortal wounds, however, remain… mortal.
She has a bit of a weakness for guys who have dark and mysterious tendencies. She’s not exactly the FALL FOR EVIL GUYS~~~ type all the time (Riley, for instance, was a normal guy… for the most part), but she’s definitely drawn to guys who aren’t all out there. Enigmatic men are definitely her type. Sometimes, this can get her into a world of trouble. For existence, Dracula had her under his thrall for a short time, and even bit her – and Dracula seduces his victims and doesn’t bite them by sheer force of will. She let him bite her. She can, or at least she used to, definitely let that hot-and-bothered-for-a-tall-dark-and-question-mark-guy get in the way of thinking. But for some reason, evil and… general inner darkness and mystery just draw her in, or they have in the past. Not so much anymore – she's basically resigned herself to a life of forever alone. It's a struggle she deals with, because a part of her still very much wishes to just be a normal girl who can have normal relationships and normal connections with people, but she knows that's just now how it is.
While she’s definitely not stupid or unintelligent by any means, she can also have… blonde moments. Honest-to-goodness, California blonde moments. She’s quick-witted and smart but there are times when she just… cannot make things click. There’s a disconnect between things and Buffy’s brain; not all the time, but it's present. Sometimes it can lead to distraction, which can lead to being punched in the face… You see where this is going. Sometimes she has stupid moments, does dumb things, or just plain isn’t paying attention. It can often end badly. There's also the part about Buffy that involves a very distinct manner of speaking which could also be described as an extreme butchering of the English language.
appearance }
Buffy Summers is deceptively small. She stands at only five feet, three inches (5'3"). It's likely that she barely weighs more than one-hundred-fifteen pounds, soaking wet (115lbs). She has green eyes that can occasionally present themselves as hazel. Her skin tone is even, not pale but not overly tanned, with natural color to it. During the summer months, she has a dusting of freckles over her shoulders. She's not overly muscular, but is very well toned, with a flat stomach and a bit of definition in her upper arms.
She's got one hell of a sense for fashion. She's a big fan of shoes, and accessorizing. Her hair never looks anything less than cute (the exception being when she first wakes up in the morning), and she's always got jewelry (earrings, bracelets, necklaces) to go with what she has on. She's a snazzy dresser, though her impeccable taste in fashion also has to be practical. She's learned time and time again that Slaying plus skirt equals bad. Buffy prefers pants when it comes down to patrols, though she can be seen wearing skirts often during daylight hours. No matter what she's wearing, where she's going, or who she's with, she almost always has a cross around her neck. Not only does she have a vast collection of different crosses to accessorize, but it's her most practical item of clothing, as it has protective properties against vampires.

It wasn't so bad, now that she'd started getting used to it. The routine was relatively dull, monsters included… And it was strange not having an entire army waiting to go out and fight said monsters. If the girls were here… Well. The post-Siren beasts probably wouldn't have been half the problem as they generally presented themselves. The only thing that was really nagging on her was – okay, it was more than an only thing. There were a lot of things, but they could all be packed into one convenient worry: what's happening at home? She'd been keeping herself busy enough here, but that didn't mean she forgot about what she left back in New York, and Scotland, and Cleveland, and the rest of the world… There was the problem with Twilight on the rise, figuring out what this huge temporal doohickey was with Willow, Faith being… well… Faith. The girls needed leadership. Dawn needed her sister. Even in centaur form, even though they'd grown apart due to the fact that Buffy had begun to give her tutelage to a large number of other younger girls, Dawn was still her sister. It was her duty to take care of the girl, adult now or not.
She needed to do something more, though. Not just patrolling. Not just killing monsters. She needed to figure out some way to take a stand, and to – to help people, in a way that would lead them toward helping themselves. She could give weapons training; that was an idea that crossed her mind frequently, but she wasn't exactly keen on sharing the Scythe with non-Slayer types… And it wasn't like there was some Endless Free Weapons Depot or anything around this place. It was pretty bare-bones as far as free things went. Or, bare-bones in general, if she were honest with herself.
But it was better than Hell, that was for sure.
Until, of course, all these thoughts crossed her mind as she strolled through the streets alone after dark. Weapon in hand, the only sound was the click of her heels – until the familiar disgusting clamor of limbs began. It was one of those gross all-you-can-eat-buffet types, the Goodyear Blimp monsters… They always made a huge mess. "Great," she muttered under her breath, turning on her heel and taking a defensive fighter's stance, more than ready for action.
The monster bared down on her immediately, making a grab for her hair first. "Augh! You're kidding! You think you'll outmatch me after you try to mess with -- demons." It might not have been a demon, but it was in the same class, as far as she was concerned. "So typical!" she grunted forcefully as she took a blow with her elbow, hitting the beast squarely in the nose and taking the opportunity of its pained writhing to make a slash at its disgusting, gelatinous belly.
"Do you have any idea how long it takes to blow-dry?!"
The creature didn't seem to understand, and the hits just kept on coming. She fought like she always had; heart racing, adrenaline rocketing through her system… And eventually, she beat it back enough that she could take one last blow and end it all. She was warm, sticky with sweat and blood from her injuries and the creature's, and she may have had only a matter of seconds… But she couldn't stop the momentary flashing of her entire life in front of her, all the people she cared about, stuck back home… And how these monsters probably had something to do with her still being trapped in this city.
When she snapped back to it, the monster was starting to groan and try regaining its strength. That was when she noticed the tear in her jacket. Her favorite jacket. Her only jacket, here. Her face screwed into some combination of grouchy pouting and vengeful determination, and she brought the blade high above her head, prepared to bring it down with a heavy blow.
"Wrong move, Blubb-o."
